WIP Lamentors Captain

Some people might remember a while back when I auctioned off a model in order to donate the proceeds to local person in need. It went well, I think I could get more likes on facebook for changing my profile picture but..that's another topic. So, the cool dude who bought that model also commissioned me to paint a custom piece :) He's coming along and as usual I like to show some in progress shots. I've learned a lot from seeing models in the bare state on other blogs so I try to emulate that on my own. Enjoy!

One on one Tutoring with Nathan

Over This past weekend saw Nate and I attending the dojo and practicing our wutang style.

The areas in specific being flesh tones, true metallic metals, wetblending fur, freehand, theory crafting and anything else we could fit. I found the Khorne Bloodreavers served most of our purposes and a pair of wolves completed the circle.

I also prepped up some shields to demonstrate freehanding.

Then it was back to our muscle warriors for more blending and focus on true metallic metals.

Altogether we had a blast. It's fun to teach and also show someone around the town. Attend an art show, and maybe see a dude in a bathrobe and long underwear. It's a fun time to be alive.

Someday, I'll Explain

It's been busy lately. Which is a good thing, but my blog is the first thing to suffer when the painting gets busy. The projects in front of me are a variety of tabletop level, exhibition quality, and a model produced during private coaching. There was a moment of satisfaction when I realised what was on my table today, and someday, I'll catch up on the blogging.

WIP Jumpin Jaguars!

Or maybe smokin jaguars if you know anything about the game and grenades. Either way, the slow and steady beat of the Nomad drum continues. A little more purpose fully this time as there are some tournaments coming up. Next month and then again in January, which is the one I'm aiming to attend fully painted.

More on the Nomads soon! November 12th is the hard deadline for the next tournament. I'd like to have at lest half my army painted in time, which if I take a power week on, should be do-able. This weekend will be filled with more private coaching so stay tuned!

Private Coaching, Now With Skype!

I'm pretty technophobic but at the suggestion of a potential student, I have stepped into the world of Skype. Which was pretty simple after I got the right camera for the job.

Three sessions later, I'd say it's been a success. Our focus has been on the Stormcast as Chris has been working on his Armies on Parade entry. He won silver! Congrats Chris!

Infinity Jam

Last weekend Jeff, Tom, and myslef got together for another one of our jam sessions. This time the focus was on Infinity. The idea was mine and provided an excuse to paint something for my Nomads in the midst of so many commissions. This time we were at Toms casa, enjoying the view and the pink walls.

We got to work on our respective  models. Jeff on the Hasassin Rajik, Tom on an Azrail, and myslef on a TR Bot.

The weekend involved a little more drinking than usual but variety is the spice of life. Luckily we had ample foodstores and a K-9 assistant.

Not too shabby for a weekend of hazy nights and bloody mary mornings. I'll have to clean him up a bit before the final pictures.

Samson Goes to the Movies, Part 8!

It's been a while since Adam and I have had time to make another tutorial, but now that the dust is clearing, we're back! This time providing some insight into OSL. Check it out real official like at the Tabletop Minions YouTube. Enjoy!

Finished! Mista Snaakes

I had a blast on this project. He may not be perfect but that's not why I painted him. Orks/Orcs/Orruks will always have a special place in my heart.

This model was also the subject of an upcoming tutorial video shot with Adam, more to come on that soon.

Speaking of tutorial, I also shot a little four stage picture of how I made the waves an put it up on Instagram. If you can find me there the mystery is explained, not much to it really so here's the picture.
